Conquest - File Structure and Location
ConQuest Q Series is “Project” based where all of the information regarding a Project is stored in one location. Control of this Project is held in a Project database.
To control the Project Register ConQuest uses an SQL (Structured Query Language, sometimes pronounced as Sequel) database as the main focus of the interaction with the user.
The SQL Database controls the Projects Register as well as the Contacts Database and Drawings Register.
The Contacts Database contains separate tables for Subcontractors, Suppliers, Clients and Professionals.
A single user installation will probably use the SQL Express database on a C: drive. However a network database will either be a SQL server 2008 R2 Express or a full SQL server 2005 or 2008 database. From this you can see that a database in single user mode cannot be directly copied into a server version and vice versa.
The physical folders for a Project are created when a Project is added to the Register
and are created where the Option for Project Database is pointing. Once created the Register Database records where this is and retains this location for the life of the project. Changing the option subsequently will not change the database path record.
It is recommended that the Project Location in Options is not changed once this has been set for the installation.
The “Is Live” and “Project File Exist” options allows the project to be archived by removing the live option and the Project Files Exist is an automated check which allows the ability to see if a Project Register entry also has a Project file structure. These are explained further in the notes for Project Register and are a useful means of filtering.
